About this site
Illinois Results Desk is a non-political site. It's a demonstration of how raw election data can be made easier to read and explore.
What it does
On election night, Illinois counties and the City of Chicago post vote counts on their own websites, each in its own format. This site gathers those counts as they're posted, puts them in one place, and updates every couple of minutes. It also compares tonight's results with the 2024 election, so you can see where the vote is shifting.

- Use the search box, the Competitive only filter or the sort menu to find races quickly.
- Click a race to open it on the Results Map.
- Use the As of menu to see how things looked earlier in the night.
Reading the colors
Deeper colors mean a bigger lead. For the nonpartisan Chicago School Board races, colors show which group backs the candidate:
Good to know
- Results are unofficial until each county certifies them.
- Projections are estimates based on the votes counted so far. They aren't official race calls.
- Counts can jump as large batches of ballots are posted, especially mail ballots.
Results come from the public results pages of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners and Illinois county election offices. The 2024 comparisons use official 2024 precinct results.
